The National Stakeholder Workshop on Strengthening Malawi’s Climate Services was hosted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Climate Change, and took place in Blantyre from 28th to 29th July 2025. The event brought together representatives from key government ministries and departments, development agencies, the private sector, and technical experts. The workshop aimed to strengthen the legislative and policy framework for climate services in Malawi through the development of the Meteorological Policy and the Malawi Meteorological Bill. It also served as a platform to align the DCCMS Strategic Plan, facilitate cross sectoral collaboration, and stocktake progress under the Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS) Malawi project. Sessions were interactive and results oriented, focusing on risk financing, the development of sector-specific climate services, and the integration of the Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative. Opening and closing remarks were delivered by the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Climate Change, Dr Yusuf Mkungula, and the Director of DCCMS, Dr Lucy Mtilatila, respectively. Both emphasised the importance of sustained partner support, private sector engagement, and long-term investment in infrastructure, advanced technologies, and human capacity to ensure inclusive and sustainable climate service delivery across Malawi..
