This persistent rain is due to the ongoing oscillation of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) over the country, which is enhancing cloud formation and precipitation. Total rainfall amounts could exceed 120 mm in districts such as NkhataBay and Nkhotakota—significantly higher than the normal for this period.
