Professor Chiotha Promotes Malawi Meteorological Society as Workshop Concludes

As the two day stakeholder workshop on strengthening Malawi’s climate services concluded on Tuesday in Blantyre, Professor Sosten Chiotha, Chairperson of Malawi Meteorological Society (MAMESO) took the opportunity to promote the new professional body to participants.

Professor Chiotha highlighted that MAMESO aims to advance meteorological science, promote professional collaboration, and support the development and dissemination of high quality weather and climate services in Malawi.

To mark the occasion and promote knowledge sharing, Professor Chiotha also presented copies of books on the Lake Chilwa Project to a few selected participants. The recipients included representatives from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the CREWS Secretariat, the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA), and the Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services (DCCMS).

The gesture served as a reminder of the importance of research, partnerships, and professional engagement in building a climate resilient Malawi.
