Dr Mtilatila particularly welcomed the involvement of the private sector, stating that businesses and industry actors hold some of the solutions to addressing weather related disasters. According to the Director, enhanced collaboration with the private sector will be vital in building resilience and supporting the Early Warning for All initiative. “Together, we can continue exploring and working collaboratively,” said Dr Mtilatila. “Collaboration on Early Warning for All must be strengthened to meet the initiative’s targets.”

Mtilatila also expressed appreciation to the World Bank for its ongoing support, which has contributed significantly to the transformation of DCCMS. The Director cited the installation of a weather radar as a key milestone supported by the Bank. On sustainability, Dr Mtilatila indicated that DCCMS will engage the Ministry of Finance and the Civil Aviation Authority to ensure the long term operation and maintenance of such infrastructure.
