Partner Coordination and Stocktaking Meeting on Strengthening Risk-Informed Planning, Hydro-Meteorological and Early Warning Services in Malawi
The Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services (DCCMS), in collaboration with partners, is hosting a two-day stakeholder workshop in Blantyre focused on strengthening the legislative and policy framework for climate services through the development of the Meteorological Policy and Malawi Meteorological Bill. The event also serves as a platform for partner coordination and stocktaking under the Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS) Malawi project, with emphasis on strategic planning, risk financing, and the delivery of climate services across key socio-economic sectors. Discussions will include alignment of the DCCMS Strategic Plan, concept notes for sector-specific climate services, the National Framework on Water and Climate Services, and the integration of the Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative. The workshop facilitates partner dialogue aimed at enhancing synergies, aligning activities, and improving cross-institutional coordination among government agencies, development partners, and other stakeholders to ensure effective, sustainable, and inclusive climate risk management and service delivery in Malawi.
