Office of the Director

This office is responsible for policy guidance on both technical and administrative matters and oversees the following offices:

• Administration Office
• Finance Office
• Human Resource Management Office

Divisions and their functions

The department has four divisions, namely:

• Observation and forecasting services division
• aviation and public weather, climate, and research services division
• general administrative services division

Observation and forecasting services division

This division is headed by a deputy director and has the following functions:

• weather and climate observation
  • making surface and upper air observations using human, automatic , and satellite observations
• weather and climate forecasting services
  • daily weather forecasts
  • five days weather forecasts
  • Weather reports e.g. agromet bulletins

Engineering and communication services division

This division is managed by a deputy director and has the following functions:

• Installing, operating , and maintaining automated weather and climate stations
• controlling communication services
• Installing, operating , and maintaining Infomation Technology equipment

Aviation and public weather, climate, and research services division

This division is the supervision of a deputy director and has the following functions:

• Disseminating of weather and climate infomation through media and climate infomation centers
• Providing weather reports relating to aviation
• archiving weather and climate information
